VCON Adds Desktop Videoconferencing Software to Its HD Product Line

VCON introduces vPoint HD, the first desktop videoconferencing software to encompass H.264 videoconferencing standard

(May 24, 2004) Austin, Texas – VCON (Euronext- Nouveau Marché -ISIN CODE: IL 00 108 30540), a worldwide leader in audio and videoconferencing solutions, today introduces
vPoint HD, the newest addition to the VCON HD product line, which currently includes settop and a multimedia group conferencing system.

vPoint HD is the first software client in the industry to support the new H.264 video standard. Supporting H.264 means that vPoint HD will provide twice the quality at the same bandwidth. This guarantees clearer, sharper video for desktop users who may have limited bandwidth for videoconferencing. vPoint HD not only encompasses high quality audio and video, but also includes features and functionality that move it beyond a standard desktop videoconferencing application. One example is vMail, which allows users to send video email or record videoconferences. vMail is easy to use and is perfect for recording training, conducting interviews, or archiving important information, as well as sending video emails to anyone in a user’s email address book.

“Videoconferencing at the desktop needs to be intuitive, seamless and reliable for the end user,” said Gordon Daugherty, chief marketing officer, VCON. “vPoint HD is all of this and more, making it the most powerful desktop conferencing application in the market today.”

As with all VCON endpoint products, vPoint HD’s feature set is enhanced when managed by the VCON The Media Xchange Manager® (MXM). With the MXM, vPoint has unique IP telephony features (video call transfer and call forward), as well as online directory services and ad-hoc conferencing capabilities. vPoint HD contains the full set of VCON’s PacketAssistTM QoS features, including IP Precedence and Diffserv, allowing the video and audio packets to be received clearly and instantaneously by the remote site.

vPoint HD operates as a stand-alone system; and can be used either in conjunction with a USB web cam, or in Viewer+ mode without a camera.

When sold in conjunction with the VCON MXM, vPoint HD seats are free of charge. If purchased as a stand-alone system, the list price of vPoint HD is $199. vPoint HD will be available in the second quarter of 2004.

vPoint HD will be demonstrated at InfoComm 2004 in Atlanta, June 9-11, Booth 5045. For more information on InfoComm 2004, visit http://infocomm04.expoexchange.com/ .
