vPoint HD is industry's first desktop videoconferencing software to feature H.264 videoconferencing standard
(September 27, 2004) Austin, Texas VCON (Euronext- Nouveau Marché -ISIN CODE: IL 00 108 30540), a worldwide leader in audio and videoconferencing solutions, today introduces a free 30-day trial of vPoint HD, the first software client in the industry to support the new H.264 video standard and the newest addition to VCONs HD product line Supporting H.264 means that vPoint HD will provide twice the quality at the same bandwidth. This guarantees clearer, sharper video for desktop users who may have limited bandwidth for videoconferencing. vPoint HD not only encompasses high quality audio and video, but also includes features and functionality that move it beyond a standard desktop videoconferencing application. One example is vMail, which allows users to send video email or record personal video clips. vMail is easy to use and is perfect for recording and storing training clips as well as sending video emails to friends and colleagues. vPoint HD is an intuitive, seamless and reliable desktop conferencing application, said Gordon Daugherty, chief marketing officer, VCON. We are pleased to be able to add vPoint HD to the free trial applications that we make available for our users and potential customers who are looking to test applications before they make a purchase decision. VCON started offering trial versions of its software with the VCON Media Xchange Manager® (MXM), launched in 2001, and has since made many of its products available for customers to demo at no cost. These include the VCON MXM, VCON IPNexus instant messaging application, VCON Conference Bridge, VCON Conference Moderator, and now the vPoint HD desktop conferencing application. Having access to a free 30-day trial period before purchasing these products is important for organizations looking to test VCONs solutions on their networks and with their employees. vPoint HD operates with a standard USB web-cam and will function without a USB authentication key for up to 30-days. After the 30-day trial, users can purchase a USB authentication key and continue using the conferencing software without having to reinstall it, thus saving any address book or speed dial entries. VCON introduced vPoint HD in June. When sold in conjunction with the VCON MXM, vPoint HD seats are free of charge. |
