The Media Xchange Manager® Benefits
| MXM Base-License Features/Benefits (sorted alphabetically) | |
ACD Hunting Groups with Call Routing Rules |
MXM supports grouping users into a logical hunting group. Call routing rules include linear, circular, least recently called and simultaneous. |
Ad-hoc Conferencing |
The ability to dynamically invite another participant or participants to an existing conference. It operates just like the "conference" button on the telephone. |
Apply Group/Global Changes |
Allows the administrator to apply a change to all users, or a group of users - all at once. |
Bandwidth Management for user |
The ability to set different bandwidths for each user on the network - when the user is online or offline |
Bandwidth Management for zone |
The ability to set the bandwidth for an entire zone. |
Call Detail Records (CDRs) |
Records that contain all information on each call placed within the zone managed by the MXM. Records can be imported into programs, such as Excel for easy billing and planning. |
Call Forward |
The ability to forward a video call to a specified user or hunting group within the MXM. |
Call Forward to PSTN |
Allows video calls to be forwarded to a regular phone - even a cell phone. This allows for basic convergence between audio and video communications. |
Call Pickup and Pickup Permissions |
Allows designated users to answer the video calls of another endpoint, so important calls aren't missed. |
Call Transfer |
The ability to transfer a video call to a specified user or hunting group within the MXM. |
Configuration Templates |
A template includes the characteristic properties for a type of node or service. Any newly created item in the system will initially have the default properties defined in the template. |
Conversation Monitor |
The ability to see all calls happening on the network, including the data rate of the call, the length of the call, and any problems occurring in call. |
Dial Plans |
The dial plan defines how the MXM assigns directory numbers to registered endpoints and other nodes. Entering directory numbers are a convenient way for registered users to dial other nodes. Dial plans include alias, E.164, email address, URL. |
Directory Gatekeeper |
The MXM can be used as a Directory gatekeeper |
Directory Services |
VCON users simply select the "online directory" from their user interface to be presented with the global video directory. |
Event Log |
The event log displays information about system events and operating conditions. You can refer to it for troubleshooting and isolating a problem. |
Gateway Dialing Rules |
Allows administrators to set rules for times when a specific gateway service is not available. Instead, the call can be up-speeded or down-speeded based on the administrator's rule - rather than be rejected. |
Gateway Line Hunting |
The ability to hunt, or search, for an available gateway within the MXM. |
H.323 Gatekeeper |
The MXM is an H.323 rev3 compliant gatekeeper including functions such as login and security functions. |
Hardware/software identification |
The ability for the administration to see what version of software each system is running and the ability to identify what type of system it is. |
Interzone Bandwidth Limits |
Allows Administrator to set bandwidth limits between zones to manage total bandwidth consumption between zones. |
LDAP Support |
Supports online directories, including support for H.350, making it easy for users to dial and be connected to other users. |
Least Cost Gateway Routing |
This feature allows networks that have gateways in different states or countries to be able to route calls in the most cost-effective way. |
Mobility |
The ability for VCON users to log in on any other VCON endpoint registered to the same MXM and retrieve their user profile (identity, capabilities, etc). |
Multicast Bandwidth Registration and Limits |
Many gatekeepers have difficulty in registering accurate bandwidth usage from VCON's Interactive Multicast application. The MXM not only accurately reflects the multicast bandwidth usage, but also gives the administrator a control to limit the bandwidth for such conferences (per user). |
NAT/Firewall Traversal |
Integration with VCON SecureConnect for NAT/Firewall traversal |
Neighbor Gatekeeper |
The ability to have inter-zone functions available between the MXM and other zone registered to other gatekeepers, like dialing between zones, setting zone bandwidth limits, etc. |
Open and Closed Mode Registration |
MXM supports open-mode registration to quickly build the video network profiles using templates, or closed-mode for increased security (administrator must configure each login request after the first attempt). |
Remote Call Initiation and Termination |
The ability for the Administrator to remotely initiate and terminate a video call. |
Remote Endpoint Configuration |
VCON Endpoints can be remotely administered for either remote configuration or troubleshooting requirements. |
Remote Upgrade/Update |
Falcon, ViGO and vPoint endpoints can be remotely upgraded by the MXM administrator. |
Reporting and Billing Tool |
Pre-formatted reports and a report-generating tool that gives administrators the ability to product network-specific reports for billing and planning purposes. |
Scalable |
From 10 to 750,000 users distributed across 150 networked zones. |
Simplified Gateway Dialing |
Takes the complicated steps out of dialing through a gateway. Users can simply dial 9 plus the ISDN number. |
SIP support |
The MXM can manage SIP clients or a mixture of SIP/H.323 clients on the same network, including gateway functionality |
Supports calls to and from non-registered endpoints |
This is a policy rule for the administrator to set. If allowed, users can place video calls to other users that are not registered to the same video network. The administrator also has a unique bandwidth limit that can be set for such calls. |
