Q: What is videoconferencing?
A: Videoconferencing brings people in different locations together for meetings using audio and video telecommunications.  Available on a dial-up basis using ISDN lines or over the Internet (IP), videoconferencing is fast becoming an imperative enterprise technology.

Q: What are the benefits of videoconferencing?
A: With oil prices soaring, the pace of business faster than ever and a global imperative to reduce carbon emissions, videoconferencing is having a remarkable impact on the way we communicate. By replacing the need for in-person meetings, videoconferencing eradicates travel expenses, saves time, increases productivity and provides real-time communication with large groups of people worldwide. Executives are especially thankful for videoconferencing as it improves their work-life balance significantly, by eliminating the need to travel.

Q: Can videoconferencing systems connect to multiple sites?
A: Videoconferencing enables point-to-point and multipoint conferencing. Some of VCON's endpoints, such as xPoint, contain an embedded Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) for up to 6-site multipoint conferencing. However, for larger numbers of sites to connect simultaneously, an external MCU is required. VCON's VCBPro is an industry-leading MCU that integrates multipoint conferencing, advanced video management, video recording, streaming and scheduling in a single appliance.  The VCBPro allows up to 36 participants to be connected concurrently across various groups. For larger conferences, the VCBPro offers scalable and configurable cascading across multiple VCBs for larger conferences.

Q: Can I collaborate on documents using videoconferencing?
A: Absolutely. VCON's endpoints enable users to turn videoconferences into opportunities for effective collaboration and productivity with presentations, spreadsheets, documents and video clips easily shared.

Q: Is videoconferencing easy to use or do I need a technical background?
A: VCON systems are simple to install, user-friendly and designed for the lay-person. With remote controls and intuitive graphic user interfaces, it's as simple as operating your TV.

Q: What types of operations are best served by videoconferencing?
A: Videoconferencing has already been hugely beneficial to corporate, financial, government, distance education, and healthcare.markets worldwide and is making its way into other vertical markets as more and more professionals are beginning to understand its huge benefits.

Q: Is videoconferencing reliable and realistic?
A: In the past few years, videoconferencing has developed in leaps and bounds.  There is no longer any need to fear image quality issues, muffled audio or system crashes. With high definition, CD-quality sound and natural movement, VCON is able to deliver a same-room communications experience that is reliable and realistic.

Q: Is videoconferencing a secure environment for discussing confidential matters?
A: VCON offers encryption (AES and Triple DES) on all its videoconferencing systems to ensure that all video calls are highly secured.

Q: If I purchase a system in my country, can I install it at a location in another country?
A: Yes, VCON systems are global and can be installed and utilized worldwide. The user interface is localized and is offered in many languages.

Q: IP or ISDN network?
A: VCON delivers end-to-end videoconferencing over both IP and ISDN networks and was actually the first company to deliver videoconferencing over IP.

Q:. Why do I need a Management System?
A: In large networks of videoconferencing systems, a management system offers a quick and easier way to monitor, remotely administer and configure videoconferencing systems and a faster way to implement company security policies and restrictions.

Q: What's the meaning of ports on the VCB?
A: A port signifies the number of calls that can take place concurrently at any given time.

Q: How can we add more ports to a VCB?
A: Adding ports to the VCB only requires importing a new software-based license key available from your local VCON reseller. There is no need for any hardware changes or additions.

Q: Why do I need to update the license for my product after upgrading?
A: New versions of products contain new features. If you want to use any of the new features, you will need to upgrade your license. You can do this by contacting your local reseller.

Q: What are the product bandwidth requirements?
A: Video calls require a minimum of 128 Kbps (kilobits per second), and up to 4 MB (megabits per second). The higher the bandwidth, the better the quality, image resolution, audio quality and data sharing options. For most uses, up to 1 MB is sufficient

Q: Can my video call be recorded?
A: Yes. Video calls can be recorded either on the xPoint room system, or when using the VCBPro system for multipoint calls.

Q: I have a hardware problem. What should I do?
A: First contact technical support. If we see that the problem is hardware related we will go through our RMA procedure.

Q: How do I upgrade my product?
A: To upgrade a system, a new package and new license are required. Free upgrades are available to customers with a valid maintenance subscription. Upgrading our systems is easy and automated. Please contact your local reseller for further details.

Q: Tech support asked for log file. What should I do?
A: Our systems are equipped with a built-in ability to generate operation logs. Tech support will send you detailed instructions on how to operate the logs.
