IPNexus WebShare Content Not Viewable Using Internet Explorer

VCON Product: IPNexus
Non-VCON Product: none

Problem Description:
IPNexus WebShare content is supposed to be viewable remotely by anyone using a normal web browser. But sometimes this is not the case.

Resolution:
IPNexus requires the embedded applet called Virtual Machine (VM) in order to receive a web-share. As part of Microsoft's January 2001 settlement agreement with Sun, which was intended to resolve disputes concerning Microsoft's development and distribution of the Microsoft virtual machine (Microsoft VM), Microsoft will no longer be authorized by Sun to have the ability to support the Microsoft VM after January 2, 2004. As a result, Microsoft will stop including the Microsoft VM in new releases of Windows and other products, and will stop distributing MicrosoftR Visual J++R as well.

The Microsoft announcement for the above can be found at the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/evaluation/news/jre.asp

While the Sun version of Java VM sometimes shows interoperability problems with IPNexus WebShare, the VM included with Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0.2X seems to work well. To make sure IE is configured to use VM, to to Tools/Options/Advanced. Then scoll down to Microsoft VM and make sure "JIT Compiler for virtual machine" is checked.
