Audio Echo Sometimes with vPoint HD
|
| |
| Emblaze-VCON Product: |
vPoint HD (6.0+) |
| Non-Emblaze-VCON Product: |
|
|
| |
Problem Description:
Even though the audio tuning wizard has been run, sometimes audio echo is experienced. |
| |
|
Resolution:
We found that some other applications can change the sound card volume settings (what you find beneath the speaker icon in your system tray). One setting in particular that we find can change back and forth is the Mic Boost setting (sometimes labeled BOOST and sometimes labeled +20dB). You can see this in the property settings, when switched to Recording.
vPoint HD has some facilities to protect against this, but it cannot be 100% foolproof since other applications cannot be locked from reaching into the sound card volume settings. If you find that this is the cause of the periodic echo problems, try to determine which other application is causing the change to the sound card volume settings and then see if this other application has some audio configuration settings which can be changed to prevent this.
It is possible to run the vPoint audio tuning wizard while this sound card mic boost setting is enabled. It will typically result in the vPoint audio gain being set at a low level. Generally speaking, the audio quality will be better with the sound card mic boost setting disabled, allowing the vPoint audio gain to be set at a higher level (via the vPoint audio tuning wizard).
Additionally, if a headset is being used, remember to check the "Headset" option on the audio tuning wizard page so that the audio will be further optimized for a headset environment.
