Unwanted Users Logging In To IPNexus Server

VCON Product: IPNexus
Non-VCON Product:

Problem Description:
Any user that installs the IPNexus Client and knows the IP address of the IPNexus server can login to use the system. Is there any way to authenticate users, thereby blocking unwanted user access?

Resolution:
Starting with the 1.603 version of IPNexus, there is a User Authentication feature just for this purpose. When the IPNexus server is put into authentication mode, it will not allow Clients to login unless their UserID and Password match what has been configured on the server.

During installation, the IPNexus server asks if it will be in authenticated mode. If so, then an icon called "IPNexusUserMgmt" will appear on the desktop. This applet allows the addition and removal of UserID and Password combinations, representing the users that should be allowed to login. On the Client side, the Preferences screen also has a UserID and Password field that must match what is on the server side.

If a user tries to login and the ID/Password combination does not match what's on the server, the user will get a login error message.
