Problem Description:
How do I find the IP address that is used by my vPoint HD application? I need this so I can tell other users how to call me. |

Resolution: This question primarily applies to vPoint HD users that are not registered to the Emblaze-VCON Media Xchange Manager (MXM) server, which provides online directory services and also assigns more normal dial plan numbers to each user for easy dialing.
For standalone vPoint users not registered to some gatekeeper, dialing by IP address is the only choice. To find the IP address used by your vPoint application, first launch the vPoint HD application. In the bottom left-hand corner, next to the Emblaze-VCON logo, there is a box that displays your IP address. If you are registered to a gatekeeper, this box will contain your E.164 dial plan number. Either way, this is the number that other videoconferencing users on your network can use to call you.
If your PC is behind a network address translation server (NAT) for security purposes, it is likely that the IP address you will see is private and not routable. The most common private IP addressing scheme is 10.x.x.x. If you see such an IP address, then other users on the same local area network should be able to call you, but not remote users on the Internet or other remote office locations. In this case, speak to your network administrator and/or research Emblaze-VCON's SecureConnect solution for secure firewall/NAT traversal.
